Artist smokes feather onto pottery

Today I am going to share with you an extremely unique and beautiful work of art. In this work of art the artist smokes feathers onto pottery. Isn't it an unique idea!๐Ÿ˜

Vincent Garcia has been working with ceramics for 38 years. He learned how to smoke feathers and hair onto clay in 1984. The techniques are similar to Japanese Raku and Native American Horsehair Pottery

Here's how he does it :

1.  He starts with traditional wheel throwing.
2. Then he uses smooth stones to polish each piece. The process is called Burnishing.
3.  Then the pieces are fired at 2,192°F.
4.  He adds the feathers while the pieces are still hot.
5.  As soon as it touches, it catches fire, creates smoke and that feather is then transform into a black surface.
6.  Finally, he blows the ashes off so the designs don't smear.

This artwork is extremely unique, beautiful and interesting. And a must watch๐Ÿ˜Š
