Sunlight Art

Today I am going to tell you about an extraordinary artist, who doesn't use paint or brushes, but instead he uses the sun to create his artwork.

"Michael Papadakis" is not an ordinary artist and he doesn't paint in a studio. He paints in an open ground under natural sunlight. The unique thing about his work is that he doesn't use colors and paint brushes but uses refraction and reflection to paint with the sun.
Isn't this amazing.... 😍

He works in a field of 'heliography'. He uses variety of magnifying glasses and reflectors to gather the power of sun on a piece of wood in order to burn it and create his artwork.

This artist creates various landscapes, portraits and cityscapes using this technique. He started this artwork in year 2012 while he was travelling in the world.

He is a self-taught artist and himself  experimented  alot to discover this art technique.

Process :
He starts by searching for  a perfect place where he can fully utilize the sunlight. Then he sketches some guidelines on wood and starts his work as the sun rises. He uses variety of lenses and mirrors to control the sunlight. Some lenses are so focused that he can use them from 15 ft. away.

Safety Measures :
As Michael is burning his medium to create his artwork there are some safety measures he needs to follow. He needs to keep a handy spray bottle with him to control the flames and needs to wear welding glasses to protect his eyes.

Michael is an amazing self-taught artist who has introduced a new technique of art to the world. He inspires many upcoming artist to use their creativity to fullest and introduce such creative artwork ideas to the world.
